Putin Says Russia Maintains Close Cooperation With Pakistan

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed that Russia continues to maintain close cooperation with Pakistan, according to remarks released by the Russian Embassy in Pakistan following a diplomatic ceremony in Moscow.

The statement was shared after Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, formally presented his diplomatic credentials to President Putin. During the interaction, the Russian president referred to the state of bilateral relations and ongoing engagement between the two countries.

President Putin noted that Pakistan is a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), describing the grouping as the largest regional organization in the area. He said cooperation within multilateral frameworks remains an important component of regional interaction.

According to the statement, Putin said Russia-Pakistan relations are mutually beneficial in nature, reflecting shared interests and sustained dialogue between Moscow and Islamabad.

Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, speaking on the occasion, said cooperation between Pakistan and Russia is expanding across various sectors. He added that strengthening engagement with the Pakistani community residing in Russia would remain a priority.

Faisal Niaz Tirmizi assumed his diplomatic responsibilities as Pakistan’s ambassador to Russia in October 2025. Officials from both sides have said bilateral relations continue to develop through diplomatic channels and institutional engagement.
