ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Indonesia’s national carrier Garuda Indonesia have signed a Cargo Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) aimed at expanding air cargo connectivity and supporting Pakistan’s export sector, according to aviation officials.
The agreement will remain effective from January 2026 to July 2027 and will enable Pakistani cargo shipments to be transported to Jakarta via transit hubs in Jeddah and Kuala Lumpur.
Under the arrangement, cargo arriving at Jakarta will gain onward connectivity to multiple international destinations, including Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Seoul, making these markets more accessible to Pakistani exporters.
Officials said the agreement is designed to provide exporters and freight forwarders with competitive cargo rates and preferential delivery options, improving efficiency across supply chains.
The collaboration is expected to support growth in Pakistan’s exports while facilitating the expansion of air cargo operations between South Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.
No financial details of the agreement were disclosed.
