ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two individuals in Islamabad for their alleged involvement in visa fraud and migrant smuggling, officials said on Tuesday.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrests were made by the agency’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle after actionable information was provided by the United States Embassy.
The suspects, identified as Tahir Shehbaz and Rab Nawaz, were taken into custody during an operation conducted in the federal capital. Investigators allege that the men attempted to send at least 12 Pakistani nationals to the United States using forged documents and fraudulent visa arrangements.
The FIA said the suspects were part of a broader network involved in illegal migration and document falsification. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest two additional accomplices believed to be linked to the operation.
Authorities said investigations are continuing, and further details will be shared as the case progresses.
