ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have jointly advanced an internationally recognised “Skills Passport” framework aimed at strengthening vocational certification, with Pakistan’s Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) playing a key implementation role, officials said.
Under the initiative, TEVTA will work with relevant Chinese institutions to align vocational training standards, certification processes and skill assessment mechanisms with global benchmarks. The framework is intended to improve international recognition of Pakistani technical skills and enhance workforce mobility.
Officials said the Skills Passport initiative focuses on standardising certifications across priority sectors, improving transparency in skill verification and linking trained workers with regional and global labour markets.
The cooperation forms part of broader Pakistan-China engagement in human resource development, complementing existing collaboration under economic and industrial partnerships. Authorities noted that vocational training and skills development have emerged as a critical area for long-term economic sustainability.
TEVTA is expected to coordinate curriculum alignment, assessment protocols and certification rollout within Pakistan, while technical coordination with Chinese counterparts will continue through dedicated working groups.
Officials said further implementation details will be finalised through institutional cooperation to ensure the framework meets international accreditation requirements.
