LAHORE: Pakistan has formally launched a locally developed electric and solar-powered transport venture aimed at producing motorcycles, cars and buses, as part of efforts to promote clean energy and domestic manufacturing.
The project was inaugurated at a ceremony held at the SBP e-Library, Nishtar Park Sports Complex, Lahore. The launch was attended by Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Provincial Minister for Energy and Sports, and Malik Saiful Malook Khokhar, Member of the National Assembly.
Addressing the ceremony, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said the introduction of locally manufactured electric and solar transport solutions was aligned with Pakistan’s broader push toward renewable energy and reduced reliance on imported fuels. He described the initiative as a step toward addressing long-term energy challenges through innovation and sustainable technology.
The minister also announced plans to organise a provincial-level youth expo in the near future, aimed at providing young entrepreneurs and innovators a platform to showcase skills and ideas related to emerging technologies and green energy.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Malik Saiful Malook Khokhar said the locally produced electric vehicles project is expected to generate employment opportunities, particularly for skilled youth, while encouraging technological development within the country.
Officials said the initiative reflects growing interest in environmentally friendly transport solutions and highlights Pakistan’s efforts to develop indigenous manufacturing capacity in the clean energy and mobility sectors.
