Pakistan records 177% surge in boiled meat exports to China in 2025

BEIJING: Pakistan’s exports of processed meat to China jumped 177 percent in value during 2025, according to figures released by China’s General Administration of Customs, signalling strong growth in bilateral agricultural trade.

Official data shows Pakistan shipped around 2.38 million kilograms of boiled beef, generating export earnings of approximately $14.52 million over the year.

Trade officials said the increase reflects improved market access for Pakistani exporters, wider acceptance of halal-certified products, and stronger compliance with Chinese sanitary standards.

Jiangsu province emerged as the largest destination, importing nearly $5.08 million worth of Pakistani meat. Zhejiang and Tianjin followed, while additional shipments were recorded in Guangdong, Shandong, Xinjiang, Hainan and Hunan.

Industry sources noted that Pakistan’s average export price stood near $6.11 per kilogram, positioning the country competitively in China’s growing market for ready-to-cook and processed protein products.

Exporters attributed the rise to expanded approval of Pakistani processing facilities, better cold-chain logistics and smoother customs clearance. Analysts said further growth could come from value-added products, improved branding partnerships and certification of additional plants.

Officials view the development as an important step in diversifying Pakistan’s export base and strengthening agricultural trade ties with China.
