DOHA: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday that the Palestinian issue continues to define the strategic and moral direction of the region, calling it a core test for international law and global justice.
Speaking at the opening session of a forum in Doha, Araghchi said Palestine was not only a regional concern but a broader question of whether international norms, human rights and global institutions function as intended.
He said the Palestinian crisis had historically been viewed as the result of occupation and denial of basic rights, but had since evolved into a wider humanitarian and political challenge.
Referring to the situation in Gaza, Araghchi said the conflict could not be described as a conventional war between equal sides, adding that civilian areas had faced extensive destruction.
The Iranian foreign minister said developments surrounding Palestine would continue to influence political alignments and policy decisions across West Asia and beyond.
