RIYADH: Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir to review bilateral defense cooperation and regional security matters, officials said.
According to a statement, the meeting focused on strengthening long-standing military relations and enhancing coordination on issues related to global peace and stability. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued strategic partnership in the defense sector.
The discussion comes as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia expand institutional cooperation following a bilateral defense agreement signed last year, formalizing decades-old military collaboration.
Officials said the talks also covered regional developments and joint efforts aimed at maintaining stability. The two sides emphasized the importance of coordination among friendly nations in addressing evolving security challenges.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia maintain close diplomatic and defense ties, including training exchanges, joint exercises and security coordination. The relationship also extends to economic and political cooperation across multiple sectors.
No detailed operational decisions were announced after the meeting.
