Pakistan has arrested Sultan Aziz Azzam, the spokesman of the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K), in what officials described as a significant intelligence operation targeting militant networks operating in the region.
Security sources said the arrest was carried out following sustained intelligence monitoring and coordination between relevant agencies. Authorities believe the detained individual played a key role in ISIS-K’s propaganda and communication activities, which are used to recruit fighters and spread extremist narratives.
Officials said the operation reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to disrupt militant command structures and curb the spread of extremist violence. The arrest is expected to provide valuable intelligence regarding ISIS-K’s operational methods, regional networks, and cross-border linkages.
Pakistan has repeatedly stated that it remains committed to counter-terrorism operations aimed at ensuring internal security and regional stability. Security officials emphasised that such intelligence-based actions are critical to preventing future attacks and dismantling organised militant groups.
