The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has introduced updated curriculum guidelines for medical and dental colleges across Pakistan as part of ongoing reforms to strengthen medical education standards.
According to official communications, the revised framework places greater emphasis on modern clinical competencies, outcome-based education, ethical practice, and standardized assessment methods. The move is intended to ensure uniform teaching quality across both public and private institutions.
The updated curriculum aligns undergraduate and postgraduate medical training with international best practices, focusing on patient-centred care, clinical decision-making, and practical skill development rather than rote learning.
Education experts say the reforms will help bridge gaps between academic training and real-world healthcare delivery, while also improving consistency in medical qualifications awarded nationwide.
The implementation process will involve coordination with medical universities, affiliated colleges, and examination bodies to ensure a smooth transition under the national regulatory framework.
