Islamabad has achieved a major medical milestone with the successful completion of its first robotic surgical procedure at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The breakthrough places the capital among a growing number of cities adopting cutting-edge surgical technologies to improve patient outcomes.
Hospital officials said the robotic system enables surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater precision, minimal incisions, and enhanced control. Compared to conventional surgery, robotic-assisted procedures typically result in reduced blood loss, lower infection risk, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery for patients.
The successful procedure reflects Pakistan’s broader push to modernize public healthcare infrastructure and integrate advanced medical technologies in government hospitals. Medical experts believe this development will not only improve treatment standards in Islamabad but also serve as a foundation for expanding robotic surgery across other specialties and public sector hospitals in the country.
Officials added that training programs for surgeons and technical staff are being strengthened to ensure the sustainable and safe use of robotic systems in future procedures.
