KHARAN, BALOCHISTAN: Security forces have killed 12 militants after foiling attempted bank robberies in Kharan district of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, officials said on Tuesday.
According to security officials, the militants attempted to storm multiple bank branches in the area, prompting an immediate response by law enforcement and security personnel deployed in the district.
The officials said a gunfight ensued during the operation, resulting in the deaths of 12 militants. No civilian casualties were reported during the incident, while security forces successfully secured the targeted locations.
Authorities said the area was cordoned off following the operation, and a clearance search was carried out to ensure no further threat remained.
No claim of responsibility has been made by any group so far. Officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the identity and affiliations of the militants involved.
