COLOMBO: Pakistan national cricket team defeated the United States national cricket team by 32 runs in a Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, recording their second successive win in the tournament.
After winning the toss, the United States opted to field. Pakistan posted 190 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan led the innings with a top score of 73, while Babar Azam contributed 46. Shadab Khan added late momentum with a quick 30 off 12 deliveries.
In reply, the United States reached 158 for eight in 20 overs despite half-centuries from Shayan Jahangir (49) and Shubham Ranjane (51). Milind Kumar scored 29.
Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Usman Tariq, who claimed three wickets. Shadab Khan picked up two, while Mohammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed and Shaheen Afridi took one each.
The result marked Pakistan’s second win in the competition, following their opening victory over the Netherlands. Pakistan are scheduled to face India in their next group match on February 15.
