LAHORE: Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center (PKLI) has carried out a robotic-assisted surgery for pancreatic cancer, hospital officials said, marking another milestone in advanced surgical care at the facility.
According to the institute, the operation was performed using minimally invasive robotic technology, allowing surgeons to operate with greater precision through smaller incisions.
PKLI Dean Dr Faisal Saud Dar said the hospital has now completed more than 500 robotic surgeries across multiple specialties.
He said robotic techniques are increasingly being used for complex procedures, including liver and pancreatic operations, which traditionally require major open surgery.
Hospital officials noted that robotic surgery can help reduce blood loss, shorten recovery time and minimize complications compared to conventional methods.
PKLI said the institute is expanding its role as a national center for transplant and cancer treatment through the adoption of advanced surgical technologies.
Pancreatic and liver cancers are considered among the more difficult conditions to treat, and surgical intervention remains a key option in improving patient survival chances.
