Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the timely completion of a 200-bed cancer hospital in Islamabad, instructing relevant departments to meet the 2026 deadline without delay.
According to official briefings, the hospital is being developed to provide modern cancer diagnosis and treatment facilities, aiming to reduce the burden on existing public hospitals and improve access to specialized care for patients in the federal capital and surrounding regions.
The project is part of the government’s broader healthcare reform agenda, which focuses on expanding tertiary-care infrastructure, enhancing medical services, and improving patient outcomes. Officials say the facility will be equipped with advanced oncology units, inpatient wards, and diagnostic services once operational.
Authorities have been directed to closely monitor construction progress, ensure transparency, and address any administrative or technical hurdles to avoid delays. The initiative reflects the government’s stated priority of strengthening public health infrastructure and improving access to quality medical care.
