PIA Introduces Air-to-Rail Travel With UK and Canada Partners Under Single Ticket Plan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a new initiative to integrate air and rail travel by partnering with rail operators in the United Kingdom and Canada, enabling passengers to travel seamlessly under a single booking.

According to officials, the initiative will allow travelers flying with PIA to connect onward rail journeys at select destinations in the UK and Canada without the need for separate tickets or rebooking processes. The move is aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, particularly for long-haul travelers and members of the Pakistani diaspora.

PIA officials said the air-to-rail arrangement is designed to reduce transit times, simplify luggage handling, and provide smoother intercity connections once passengers arrive at their destination airports.

“This initiative reflects our focus on improving connectivity and aligning with international travel standards,” a PIA official said, adding that similar partnerships may be explored with other regions in the future.

Industry analysts view the move as part of broader efforts by PIA to modernize services, strengthen international partnerships, and improve its competitive position in key overseas markets.
