Pakistani fashion brand Maria B opens first women’s flagship store in Bangladesh

DHAKA: Pakistani fashion brand Maria B has officially entered the Bangladeshi retail market with the opening of its first women’s flagship store in Dhaka, marking a notable development in regional fashion and cross-border retail expansion.

Bangladesh is one of the world’s largest apparel manufacturing hubs and supplies garments to major global brands. Despite this, international fashion labels have historically maintained a limited direct retail presence in the country.

Industry observers say the launch reflects growing consumer demand for premium fashion brands and highlights Bangladesh’s evolving retail landscape. While several global brands source garments locally, few operate officially branded outlets in the domestic market.

The Dhaka outlet positions Maria B as the first international women-focused fashion brand to establish a formal retail footprint in Bangladesh. Previously, only a limited number of foreign fashion labels, including Pakistan-origin family clothing brands, had entered the market.

Fashion industry professionals in Bangladesh view the development as a positive signal for the sector, particularly as consumer preferences continue to shift toward branded and designer apparel.

The expansion also reflects increasing regional connectivity in South Asia’s fashion industry, with brands exploring new markets beyond traditional export-only relationships.

Retail analysts note that Bangladesh’s growing middle class, expanding urban consumer base and strong familiarity with regional fashion trends have made the market increasingly attractive for international designers.
