DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has accepted the International Cricket Council’s decision to remove Bangladesh from the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup and replace it with Scotland, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The move follows Bangladesh’s refusal to play its World Cup matches in India, citing security concerns. The ICC said it reviewed BCB’s position but did not find sufficient grounds to alter tournament arrangements.
After the announcement, the BCB convened an emergency meeting in Dhaka to assess the situation.
Sources familiar with the discussions said the board has now formally accepted the ICC ruling and is unlikely to pursue the matter further.
The ICC earlier confirmed Scotland’s inclusion in the tournament, stating that extensive consultations were held with Bangladesh before the final decision.
The development brings clarity to the tournament lineup as organizers move forward with preparations for the T20 World Cup.
