PSL 11 player categories announced as platinum list expands

LAHORE: Pakistan Super League organisers on Wednesday announced domestic player categories for the tournament’s 11th edition, placing 89 local cricketers across five tiers ahead of the upcoming auction.

According to league officials, 16 players have been listed in the platinum category. Salman Agha, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Nawaz and Abrar Ahmed were upgraded from diamond, while Sahibzada Farhan moved up from gold.

Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan retained their platinum status.

Eleven players have been placed in the diamond category, including Mohammad Wasim Jr, Sufiyan Muqeem and Salman Mirza, who were promoted from gold.

The gold tier features 32 players, while 30 cricketers fall under the silver and emerging categories combined.

Each franchise will be allowed to retain up to four players before the auction, with one retention permitted per category.

PSL officials also confirmed that overseas player registration has been extended until February 3. The league’s first-ever player auction is scheduled for February 11.
