Pakistan Raises Diesel Price by Rs11.30, Petrol Kept Unchanged

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday announced a sharp increase in the price of high-speed diesel while keeping petrol rates unchanged for the next 15 days, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy.

Under the revised rates, high-speed diesel now costs Rs268.38 per litre, up from Rs257.08, reflecting an increase of Rs11.30 per litre. The new prices take effect from February 1, 2026, following recommendations by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

In contrast, the price of petrol has been maintained at Rs253.17 per litre for the same period.

Officials said the adjustment was made in line with international oil market trends and exchange rate movements. The prices will remain in force for the next fortnight and will be reviewed again based on prevailing market conditions.

Diesel is a key fuel for transport, agriculture and industrial activity, and analysts note that changes in diesel prices often have a broader impact on inflation and operating costs across multiple sectors.
