Pakistan thrash Australia by 90 runs to clinch T20 series in Lahore

LAHORE: Pakistan national cricket team sealed a commanding T20 series victory after defeating Australia national cricket team by 90 runs in the second match at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

The win handed Pakistan an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series.

After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bat first and posted 198 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Captain Salman Ali Agha led from the front with a fluent 76 off 40 deliveries. He was well supported by Usman Khan, who struck 53, while Shadab Khan (28*) and Mohammad Nawaz (9*) added late momentum.

Pakistan suffered early setbacks as Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub and Babar Azam departed cheaply, but Agha’s aggressive knock steadied the innings and shifted momentum decisively.

Chasing 199, Australia struggled against Pakistan’s spin attack and were bowled out for 108 in 15.4 overs. Cameron Green top-scored with 35, while Matthew Short made 27.

Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan claimed three wickets each. Usman Tariq picked up two, while Saim Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz took one apiece.

The result marks Pakistan’s first T20 series win over Australia in seven years.
