Pakistan, Libya military chiefs discuss security cooperation in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir on Monday met Libyan Arab Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Abu Al-Qasim Haftar at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The Libyan delegation also included Deputy Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar.

ISPR said the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security developments and expanding professional cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.

Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained military engagement and institutional collaboration to strengthen bilateral ties.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for peace, stability and institutional development in Libya, the military’s media wing said.

Haftar acknowledged Pakistan’s professional military capabilities and appreciated Islamabad’s commitment to regional stability.

Earlier, Haftar was received at Nur Khan Air Base, where he paid tribute to Pakistan’s fallen soldiers and laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument at GHQ.

ISPR said the visit reflected long-standing friendly relations between Pakistan and Libya and underscored both sides’ intent to enhance defense cooperation.
