Libya seeks Pakistan Air Force expertise as defense cooperation deepens

RAWALPINDI: Libya has shown keen interest in learning from the Pakistan Air Force’s operational expertise as senior military officials from both countries held talks aimed at strengthening bilateral defense cooperation.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Libya’s Deputy Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar visited Air Headquarters in Rawalpindi, where he met Pakistan Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu.

The discussions focused on professional military collaboration, capacity building and potential areas of cooperation between the two air forces.

During the visit, the Libyan delegation was briefed on Pakistan Air Force initiatives at the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park. Officials said the delegation expressed particular interest in benefiting from the PAF’s air and ground operational experience.

ISPR said the Air Chief assured full support in enhancing Libya’s air force capabilities through training and professional engagement.

The meeting followed a separate engagement a day earlier, when Libya’s Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Abu Al-Qasim Haftar met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir. That meeting reviewed regional security developments and emphasized continued military-to-military cooperation.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional ties and expanding defense collaboration between Pakistan and Libya.
