NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, raised concerns at the UN Security Council over militant activity operating from Afghan territory.
Addressing the council, the Pakistani envoy said recent attacks inside Pakistan had been linked to groups allegedly planning and coordinating activities from across the border.
He urged the Afghan authorities to ensure their territory is not used for violence against any country, including Pakistan.
The representative also highlighted the broader humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, referring to economic hardship and restrictions affecting women and girls.
Pakistan reiterated its position that regional stability requires preventing cross-border militancy and promoting cooperation among neighboring states.
No immediate response was issued by Afghan officials during the session.
