Pakistan Under-19 produced a commanding performance in the final of the Men’s U-19 Asia Cup, defeating arch-rivals India by 191 runs to clinch the continental title in emphatic fashion.
The victory not only secured the trophy for Pakistan but also served as redemption for their earlier group-stage defeat against India. Batting first, Pakistan posted a formidable total, before dismantling India’s batting lineup with disciplined bowling to seal one of the most one-sided finals in tournament history.
The final’s chief guest was Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who presented the trophy to the victorious Pakistan side. Notably, Naqvi had also been the chief guest at a previous Asia Cup final, where the trophy presentation had drawn attention due to off-field sensitivities.
According to reports, Indian players did not engage in post-match handshakes with Pakistani players in both encounters during the tournament. It was also widely speculated that India’s team had intended to avoid receiving the trophy from the ACC chairman had they won the final.
However, Pakistan’s comprehensive on-field performance rendered such scenarios irrelevant, as the green shirts lifted the trophy after delivering a decisive defeat that left no room for controversy.
Pakistan’s 191-run victory stands as one of the largest margins in an Asia Cup final, underlining the team’s dominance and reaffirming their strength at the junior level.
