ISLAMABAD: Asim Munir on Monday underscored the importance of a strong and people-centric police force, calling effective law enforcement a “sacred responsibility” and reaffirming the armed forces’ support for Pakistan Police.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made the remarks during a visit to the National Police Academy in Islamabad, where he interacted with officers of the Police Service of Pakistan.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir was received by senior police leadership and was presented a guard of honour by a police contingent. He laid floral wreaths at the police martyrs’ memorial and paid tribute to officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Addressing senior officers, including inspectors general and additional inspectors general, he praised the role of police personnel in counter-terrorism operations, crime prevention and addressing complex security challenges.
The army chief emphasised that public trust is the foundation of effective policing and highlighted the need for inter-institutional coordination and modern policing practices to strengthen internal security.
He said the armed forces would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan Police in maintaining law and order across the country.
