China reaffirms support for Pakistan in counterterrorism cooperation

ISLAMABAD: China has reiterated its strong support for Pakistan in the fight against terrorism, stressing closer cooperation on internal security and counterterrorism efforts.

Speaking during a meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong condemned recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan and expressed solidarity with affected families.

According to official sources, the discussions focused on counterterrorism coordination, intelligence sharing, cybercrime cooperation and enhanced security for Chinese citizens and projects across Pakistan.

The ambassador said China opposes all forms of terrorism and will continue to stand alongside Pakistan in efforts to maintain stability and public safety.

Naqvi briefed the envoy on Pakistan’s security response and measures being taken to protect Chinese nationals, including plans to strengthen a dedicated protection unit. He said safeguarding Chinese citizens and projects remains a top priority for Islamabad.

Both sides also reviewed avenues to expand security collaboration, including the use of modern technology to support counterterror operations. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the long-standing strategic partnership between China and Pakistan.

Officials said the two countries will continue close coordination to counter terrorism and strengthen bilateral security cooperation.
