Daraz launches support hub for traders hit by Karachi Gul Plaza fire

Karachi: Daraz Pakistan on Monday announced a support initiative for traders impacted by the recent fire at Gul Plaza, saying it will introduce a dedicated section on its platform to help affected sellers resume business operations.

In a statement, the e-commerce company said the initiative will provide onboarding assistance, warehousing facilities, subsidised deliveries and marketing support for impacted traders over the next three months.

The fire, which broke out on January 17, damaged more than 1,100 shops and resulted in significant loss of life and property. Authorities continue recovery efforts at the site.

Daraz said a special segment on its app and website will showcase products from affected sellers, allowing customers nationwide to support businesses rebuilding after the incident.

The company added that traders will also receive targeted training to help move their operations online, along with access to storage solutions for existing and incoming inventory.

Free digital and on-site marketing support will be offered through Daraz-owned platforms, while a dedicated incubation programme will provide ongoing guidance to stabilise businesses ahead of Ramadan and Eid.

Daraz Pakistan Managing Director Ehsan Saya said Gul Plaza had long served as a key commercial hub and many of its traders were among the platform’s earliest sellers.

He said the company aims to provide practical support to help entrepreneurs recover and continue serving customers across Pakistan.

Daraz encouraged affected sellers to register through its official channels to access the assistance programme.
