RAWALPINDI: Indonesia has expressed interest in deepening defence cooperation with Pakistan after a high-level meeting between Indonesian Defence Minister Lieutenant General (Retired) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Rawalpindi.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral military ties, expanding defence collaboration, and enhancing strategic cooperation between the two countries. Discussions included defence engagement, training cooperation, and long-term military-to-military coordination.
Officials familiar with the talks said both sides emphasized mutual interests in regional stability and defence diplomacy. The engagement reflects growing convergence between Pakistan and Indonesia on security cooperation and institutional military relations.
Pakistan and Indonesia share longstanding diplomatic relations, with defence cooperation increasingly emerging as a key area of engagement. The Rawalpindi meeting underscored Pakistan’s role as a reliable defence partner and highlighted prospects for broader cooperation in the defence sector.
