Pakistan and Indonesia Form Joint Trade Committee as Trade Crosses $4 Billion

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Indonesia have agreed to establish a Joint Trade Committee aimed at enhancing bilateral trade cooperation and economic engagement, official sources confirmed.

The decision was reached during high-level discussions between trade and government representatives of both countries. According to trade data, total bilateral trade between Pakistan and Indonesia has now exceeded $4 billion, reflecting steady growth in economic ties.

The newly formed Joint Trade Committee will work on identifying opportunities to boost trade volumes, address market access issues, and explore new sectors for collaboration. Officials said that the committee will serve as a regular platform for dialogue and policy coordination between the two trade ministries.

Trade between Islamabad and Jakarta spans a range of goods and services, including textiles, machinery, agricultural products, and raw materials. Both sides have emphasized the need for stronger economic integration and mutual cooperation.

In a joint statement, representatives from both nations highlighted the committee’s role in fostering sustainable trade growth and expanding economic opportunities. The development underscores the growing importance of regional and inter-regional commercial ties in Asia.

Analysts said that formalizing the committee is expected to streamline business engagement, encourage investment, and provide a structured mechanism to resolve trade-related challenges.
