Pakistan, China sign 24 agreements to build Digital Corridor to boost tech cooperation

Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China have signed a comprehensive set of 24 agreements to establish a Digital Corridor, a major initiative designed to expand cooperation in information technology, digital trade, and innovation ecosystems.

The agreements were inked during high-level bilateral talks between officials from both countries, with representatives from the ministries of information technology, commerce, and foreign affairs present. The Digital Corridor is expected to facilitate cross-border digital services, improve data infrastructure linkages, and attract investment in IT sectors on both sides.

Authorities from Pakistan emphasised that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to integrate digital transformation into national development plans, enhance competitiveness in global technology markets, and create new opportunities for startups and tech professionals.

Chinese counterparts said the collaboration reflects deepening economic and strategic ties, and reiterated Beijing’s support for Pakistan’s digital economy objectives. The Digital Corridor project is also anticipated to open doors for joint research, skills development programs, and shared platforms for e-commerce and cybersecurity cooperation.

Analysts believe the agreement will serve as a catalyst for the digital economies of both nations, fostering innovation and reinforcing connectivity in an increasingly technology-driven global landscape.
