PM Shehbaz Launches Asaan Khidmat Centre in Islamabad to Streamline Public Services

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the Asaan Khidmat Centre in Islamabad, a centralized public service facility aimed at simplifying government procedures and improving service delivery for citizens of the federal capital.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Islamabad, the prime minister said the centre reflects the government’s commitment to transparent, efficient and citizen-focused governance. He noted that more than 60 public services, provided by multiple government departments, have been integrated into a single location to reduce delays and bureaucratic hurdles.

The prime minister acknowledged the role of Azerbaijan’s public service model in shaping the concept of the Asaan Khidmat Centre, expressing gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for cooperation and sharing best practices during earlier engagements.

Officials briefed the prime minister that key institutions, including NADRA, the Foreign Office, police, and other federal departments, will operate under one roof to facilitate faster processing of documents and public requests.

Shehbaz Sharif announced that similar service centres will be established in Muzaffarabad and Gilgit-Baltistan as part of a broader plan to expand the initiative across Pakistan and extend select services to overseas Pakistanis.

Highlighting the government’s wider development agenda, the prime minister reiterated his focus on transforming Pakistan into a regional hub for information technology. He encouraged young people to pursue IT education, skill development and entrepreneurship, adding that providing internationally competitive training opportunities remains a national priority.

The Asaan Khidmat Centre, officials said, is expected to enhance citizen satisfaction, improve administrative efficiency and strengthen public trust in government institutions.
