ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have explored investment opportunities in the proposed M-10 motorway project during bilateral talks held on the sidelines of an Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Istanbul, officials said.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan met Saudi Minister for Transport and Logistics Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser to review cooperation in transport infrastructure, maritime affairs and regional connectivity, according to an official statement.
During the meeting, the Pakistani side presented the M-10 motorway plan, which includes a new transport corridor linking Karachi Port with Hyderabad. Khan invited Saudi participation under public-private partnership frameworks aimed at upgrading Pakistan’s road network and logistics sector.
Saudi officials expressed interest in cooperation across transport modernisation initiatives, including digital monitoring systems and expansion of aviation connectivity with Pakistan.
Separately, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, discussing regional developments and future diplomatic engagements, the Foreign Office said.
Pakistan has been seeking foreign investment in infrastructure and logistics to strengthen trade routes and improve regional connectivity.
