RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke by phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, assuring him that Saudi Arabia will not permit its land or airspace to be used for any hostile action against Iran, according to regional media.
During the call, both leaders discussed the evolving Middle East situation and exchanged views on regional stability.
Prince Mohammed said Riyadh rejects any form of aggression or escalation targeting Iran and supports efforts aimed at preventing conflict.
President Pezeshkian welcomed diplomatic initiatives to avoid war, stressing that Iran remains open to dialogue under international law. He warned that threats from the United States would only deepen instability across the region.
The Iranian leader also called for greater unity among Islamic nations, saying collective cooperation could help ensure lasting peace and security.
The exchange came as the United States deployed the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East. US Central Command said the deployment aims to support regional security amid heightened tensions.
Washington has said all options remain on the table, although US President Donald Trump recently signaled he was stepping back from immediate military action.
