Pakistan Urges Diplomacy on Iran at UN Security Council

NEW YORK: Pakistan has reiterated its strong opposition to external interference in Iran, stressing that such actions violate the United Nations Charter and international law.

Addressing a meeting of the UN Security Council on Iran, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, said Islamabad was closely monitoring developments in Iran and the broader region.

He underlined that Pakistan firmly believes all disputes must be resolved through diplomacy, dialogue and peaceful means, in line with the principles of the UN Charter.

The envoy warned that instability in Iran would have serious implications for regional peace and security, adding that a stable and prosperous Iran is in the interest of Pakistan and the wider region.

Pakistan, he said, would continue diplomatic efforts to support de-escalation and encourage constructive engagement to restore calm and stability.
