ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said modern warfare is rapidly shifting toward technology-led operations, with drones, electronic warfare and networked command systems set to replace traditional battlefield maneuvers.
According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made the remarks during a visit to Bahawalpur Garrison, where he observed a high-intensity field exercise focused on integrating advanced technologies into conventional military operations.
The exercise, titled Steadfast Resolve, featured unmanned aerial systems, surveillance platforms, electronic warfare assets and modern command-and-control frameworks, highlighting the military’s move toward technology-enabled, multi-domain operations.
Addressing troops, Munir said technological advancement is transforming the character of war and requires a shift in mindset across all operational levels. He added that future offensive and defensive strategies would rely increasingly on digital capabilities rather than physical maneuvers.
The army chief noted that Pakistan’s armed forces are rapidly adopting innovation and indigenous solutions to meet emerging security challenges. He emphasized continued preparedness across physical, cyber and electronic domains to safeguard national sovereignty.
Recent regional military developments, including exchanges earlier this year, have underscored the growing role of surveillance systems, electronic countermeasures and precision technologies in South Asia’s security landscape.
