ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host the presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan next week in back-to-back official visits, highlighting Islamabad’s growing diplomatic and economic outreach to Central Asia.
According to official sources, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on February 3 for a two-day visit, followed by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on February 5 and 6.
During Tokayev’s visit, Pakistan and Kazakhstan are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding in the railway sector, aimed at strengthening bilateral connectivity and cooperation in transport infrastructure.
Uzbek state media reported that Mirziyoyev’s visit will focus on expanding economic ties, with both sides seeking to raise bilateral trade to $2 billion in the coming years.
The agenda is expected to include discussions on industrial cooperation, investment opportunities and regional connectivity.
Officials also confirmed that the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Business Forum and the “Made in Uzbekistan” exhibition will be held in Islamabad on February 5–6, bringing together government representatives and private sector participants from both countries.
Pakistan has been pursuing deeper engagement with Central Asian states as part of its broader strategy to enhance regional trade links and position itself as a transit hub connecting South and Central Asia.
