UK introduces eVisa system for Pakistani travelers, ends visa stickers

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani citizens applying for UK visit visas will now use a digital eVisa system instead of receiving physical visa stickers in their passports, the British High Commission in Islamabad announced.

In a statement, the High Commission said the change applies to travel categories including tourism, business visits and family visits.

Under the updated process, visa applications will continue to be submitted online. Applicants will still be required to attend a visa application centre to provide biometric information. However, successful applicants will receive digital confirmation of their immigration status via email rather than a visa vignette placed in their passport.

Officials said applicants will not need to return to the visa centre to collect their passports after biometric submission, as no physical sticker will be issued.

According to the High Commission, applicants will be able to prove their immigration status through a secure online system using a share code. Authorities clarified that visa processing times, eligibility requirements and conditions remain unchanged.

The statement added that the eVisa system has already been introduced for certain categories, including student and work visas. Individuals who currently hold valid sticker visas will not be affected by the new system.

The British High Commission said the digital system aims to modernize documentation procedures and reduce risks associated with lost or damaged travel documents.
