Govt assures overseas Pakistanis on Islamabad property rights

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has assured overseas Pakistanis that their property rights in the federal capital will be fully protected, announcing strict timelines for resolving cases of illegal occupation.

In a statement shared on social media, Naqvi said that if an overseas Pakistani reports unlawful possession of property, the deputy commissioner of Islamabad is legally required to decide the matter within seven days.

“No one will be allowed to occupy property that is lawfully owned,” the minister said.

Naqvi added that investments by overseas Pakistanis in the Islamabad Capital Territory are welcome and valued, stressing the government’s commitment to providing a secure and investor-friendly environment.

He said authorities have been directed to ensure transparent and timely action to safeguard assets belonging to overseas investors, describing protection of property rights as a government priority.

The assurance comes amid long-standing concerns raised by overseas Pakistanis over illegal occupations, administrative delays and prolonged dispute resolution, particularly in major urban centres.

Officials said the new measures aim to restore confidence among overseas investors and strengthen institutional accountability in property-related matters.
