The Pakistan Navy has formally inducted PNS Khaibar (F-282), a Turkish-designed Babur-class warship, as part of efforts to enhance its maritime security and operational readiness.
The Babur-class corvettes are based on Türkiye’s MILGEM programme and are equipped with modern sensors, combat management systems, and multi-role capabilities. Naval officials say the induction of PNS Khaibar will significantly improve the Navy’s ability to safeguard sea lines of communication and respond to evolving maritime threats.
The programme reflects close defence cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye, with an emphasis on technology transfer, capacity building, and indigenous shipbuilding. The induction of PNS Khaibar adds to the Navy’s growing fleet of modern surface combatants designed for a wide range of missions, including surveillance, deterrence, and maritime security operations.
