Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye Finalize Draft Trilateral Defence Pact

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have completed a draft framework for a proposed trilateral defence cooperation agreement after nearly a year of structured consultations, Pakistan’s Minister for Defence Production Raza Hayat Haraj confirmed.

Speaking to an international news agency, the minister said the draft agreement is currently under review by all three governments and has not yet been finalised. He clarified that the proposed trilateral arrangement is separate from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s bilateral defence pact announced last year.

Haraj stated that the draft document is available with Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, and discussions are ongoing to reach full consensus before any formal signing. He described the agreement as “in the pipeline,” reflecting growing defence coordination among the three countries.

Separately, Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, addressing reporters in Istanbul, acknowledged that consultations had taken place but said no final agreement has yet been concluded. He stressed the importance of broader regional trust-building mechanisms to address security challenges and instability.

Regional analysts view the talks as part of wider efforts by regional powers to enhance defence collaboration amid rising geopolitical uncertainty. Earlier media reports had suggested Türkiye’s interest in expanding defence cooperation with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, a move seen as potentially reshaping regional security dynamics.
