Pakistan’s Privatisation Adviser Muhammad Ali has confirmed that Pakistan International Airlines’ hotel properties located in New York and Paris are not included in the airline’s privatisation plan.
Responding to speculation surrounding the valuation of PIA, the adviser said that overseas hotel assets, including the Roosevelt Hotel in New York, remain outside the scope of the current transaction. He clarified that the privatisation process is focused on the airline’s core aviation operations.
Officials say the decision is aimed at protecting strategic state assets and ensuring transparency during the privatisation process. Any future decision regarding the management or monetisation of these overseas properties will be handled separately by the government.
The clarification comes amid public debate over PIA’s asset valuation and the structure of the privatisation deal.
