ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Wednesday announced “Sialkot Stallionz” as the official name of its newly added franchise, marking a key step in the league’s expansion ahead of its 11th edition.
The Sialkot-based team was acquired earlier this month by OZ Developers, a private real estate consortium, during a live auction held in Islamabad. The group secured the franchise for Rs1.85 billion, equivalent to about $6.55 million, according to officials familiar with the process.
The PSL currently features six city-based teams, with the addition of Sialkot and Hyderabad bringing the total number of franchises to eight. While the Sialkot team’s identity has now been confirmed, the owners of the Hyderabad franchise have yet to announce their team name.
In a statement shared on social media, the franchise said the name reflects strength and heritage associated with the city of Sialkot, which has a long-standing contribution to Pakistan’s sporting culture.
The Pakistan Super League is the country’s premier T20 cricket competition, featuring domestic and international players. The upcoming season is scheduled to begin on March 26, 2026, with Faisalabad included as an additional venue for hosting matches.
Sialkot has previously been represented in domestic cricket by the Sialkot Stallions, a team that produced several players who later represented Pakistan at the international level.
