Turkey army chief meets Pakistan Field Marshal pledges joint drills

RAWALPINDI: Turkey’s Chief of General Staff Selcuk Bayraktaroglu met Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, reaffirming commitments to military training, joint exercises and capability development.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations, the visiting Turkish commander was received with a guard of honour on arrival at GHQ.

The two sides discussed defence cooperation, matters of mutual interest, and the regional and global security environment. Both agreed to deepen military-to-military ties and enhance coordination between their armed forces.

Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the longstanding Pakistan–Turkey relationship, citing historical links, mutual trust and strong people-to-people connections.

Bayraktaroglu thanked Pakistan for the hospitality and praised the professionalism and discipline of the Pakistan Army. He said Turkey would continue cooperation in training programmes, joint drills and capacity-building initiatives.

ISPR said the visit reflected the growing strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkey and underscored a shared commitment to peace, stability and security in the region.
