ICC, PCB and BCB conclude talks, decision expected within 24 hours

LAHORE: Discussions between the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) regarding Pakistan’s participation in its T20 World Cup match against India have concluded, with a possible decision expected within the next 24 hours, officials familiar with the matter said.

The meetings were held in Lahore and were attended by ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and BCB President Amin Islam, according to sources.

Officials said the discussions lasted more than five hours and focused on resolving concerns raised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board in relation to recent ICC matters. Pakistan Cricket Board officials acted as facilitators during the talks.

Sources said the ICC shared proposals with the BCB and responded positively to the issues raised, with a possible framework prepared to address Bangladesh’s concerns.

Imran Khawaja has returned to seek final approval on the proposed framework, while BCB President Amin Islam has travelled back to brief his government, officials said.

According to sources, further contact between the ICC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board is expected later today.

Earlier, officials indicated that Pakistan’s position on playing India in the T20 World Cup is linked to government approval, with the final decision resting with federal authorities.
