ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has extended restrictions on Indian-registered aircraft from using its airspace until late February 2026, according to an official notification issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA).
The airspace limitation applies to aircraft owned, operated or leased by Indian airlines, including civilian and military flights, the authority said. The move marks the eighth extension since the restriction was first imposed in April last year.
Pakistan initially announced the measure following heightened tensions with India after an attack in Indian-administered Kashmir. Islamabad rejected allegations linking it to the incident and called for an independent international investigation.
Subsequent military escalation between the two countries included missile and drone exchanges before a ceasefire came into effect in May through international mediation.
Aviation industry officials say the continued ban has forced Indian airlines to reroute several international flights, resulting in longer travel times, increased fuel consumption and higher operating costs.
The Pakistan Airports Authority said the restriction would remain in effect until further review.
