KARACHI: Saudi Arabia, the United States and China have expressed condolences to Pakistan over the Gul Plaza incident in Karachi, which resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, according to official statements.
Saudi authorities conveyed sympathy to the affected families and extended condolences to the government and people of Pakistan. The message reaffirmed solidarity with those impacted by the tragedy.
The United States, through its diplomatic mission, said it stands with the families of the victims and acknowledged the efforts of rescue teams and firefighters involved in the emergency response in Karachi.
China’s diplomatic mission also expressed grief over the loss of lives, offering condolences to the bereaved families and wishing a swift recovery to the injured.
Rescue officials said search operations are ongoing at the Gul Plaza site in Karachi, particularly in sections of the building that remain inaccessible due to debris. Areas cleared so far have not yielded additional bodies, while efforts continue in the compressed basement sections.
Authorities confirmed that an investigation committee has begun work to determine the cause of the incident. DNA samples have been collected from relatives to assist in the identification of victims where required.
